The Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCPP) may pursue child support from the biological parents of a child in a Title IV-E supervised out of home placement. Children may be removed from their home through a voluntary agreement or by a court order. DCPP sends a referral through NJKiDS to the local CWA to establish paternity and support. Once support is established, any payments are forwarded to DCPP to cover the cost of placement for the child. (42 U.S.C. § 672(a)(3); N.J.S.A. 2A:17-56.52).
